Hmm,

upstream stopped mutt-ng development [0]. I am thinking about to
orphan this package, as there are some new security issues not
fixed. Either you can build your own from [0] or switch to mutt from
experimental, where I packaged a version with the sidebar patch [1].
To implement the nntp stuff (which is at least very buggy] you have
to do it at your own.

Sorry not to help, but I think mutt 1.6 will be a very new well
featured one. And for your news stuff, just follow the UNIX
philosophie: an application per each task ;) and trigger slrn and
friends.
