Package: ndiswrapper-utils
Version: 1.1-5

When upgrading from sarge to etch after having established a working,
wirelsss connection, ndiswrapper-utils-1.1-5 causes modprobe ndiswrapper
to fail.

ThinkPad 600 with Netgear WG511 v2 card. Using the Windows 2000 INF from
the Netgear CD allows the set up and insertion of the ndiswrapper module
and wireless is possible. After dist-upgrade to etch, the following
occurs:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# modprobe -r ndiswrapper
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# modprobe ndiswrapper
ndiswrapper version 1.1 loaded (preempt=yes,smp=no)
ndiswrapper (wrapper_init:1534): loadndiswrapper failed (256); check system log
for messages from 'loadndisdriver'
FATAL: Error inserting ndiswrapper
(/lib/modules/2.6.8-3-386/misc/ndiswrapper.ko): Operating not permitted

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# uname -r

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# ndiswrapper -l
Installed ndis drivers:
wg511v2 driver present, hardware present
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~#

/var/log/messages reports that the module loaded, with no other errors
or warnings, but it does not load.

I tried removing the driver (via ndiswrapper -e wg511v2), which was
successful, and reinstalled with -i, and I still got the same result.

I reinstalled sarge from a 3.1r5 CD set. I got wireless working again as
before. I `echo ndiswrapper-utils hold | dpkg --set-selections`, then
dist-upgraded to etch. I rebooted for good measure, then I was able to
still obtain a wireless connection.

The kernel version is kernel-image-2.6.8-3-386, and the held
ndiswrapper-utils version is 1.1-4.

Confirming that I'm now in etch, /etc/debian-version reports 4.0

Thanks
