Sorry for the lack of information. By using libxine1 from experimental (1.1.4-2), none of the tools based on xine (totem, [g]xine) can play any data.
Totem ends up with: Totem could not play 'file:///home/amir/Desktop/movie.mpg'. or Totem could not play 'file:///home/amir/Desktop/music.mp3'. There is no plugin to handle this movie. gxine ends up with for both, movies and mp3: xine-lib: error: The xine engine failed to start.: No demuxer found - stream format not recognised. xine-lib: error: Whoops. You seem to have a broken xine-lib.: No demuxer found - stream format not recognised. If this information is not sufficient, just give me another shout and I will provide more information.
