Hi, and sorry for the late response.

This is still not fixed/implemented upstream, so the only suggestions
I can give are workarounds, namely using rsync, or transfer the patch
output using compression (gzip or ssh -C) which should not be affected
by the doubled patch size, at least not that badly.
