I don't think this problem is fully resolved in bbpager 0.4.3-1. The blackbox slit still enlarges to a ridiculous size when bbpager is started with the -w switch.
The screenshot at http://www.physics.ubc.ca/~swebster/screenshot.png shows the appearance of the slit after bbpager is started. The pager is in the slit, but the slit has expanded to fill the entire screen in the vertical direction. With most programs the slit only expands to accomodate the docked application. See for example: http://www.physics.ubc.ca/~swebster/screenshot2.png where the gkrellm and wmusic applets are docked, but the slit is only tall enough to accomodate the two programs.
