I agree to your point; I don't think it will be an end-all to 
have a dpkg supporting multiple source.

Considering the freedom of implementation and cost of implementation;
I am thinking that a common-alias target for preparing the debian patched
source code is the best.

As a transition period, I am evaluating whether it is feasible 
to prepare a list of commands required for each package to be 
unpacked and patched.
