I'm the upstream maintainer for gExec. I'll apply the patch in upstream v0.4. I'll also look into making the usage of different terminal emulators easier so that x-terminal-emulator can be used. It's a little hairy currently. (See section 3 of /usr/share/doc/gexec/README.gz).
