I was recently finally able to get all of my gnome packages up to 2.16
(including gnome-screensaver) and so far the problem SEEMS to be gone.
My monitor has suddenly started going to sleep again as well, though now
that it's doing so I can't seem to find a place to change WHEN it goes
to sleep. But that's another bug report for another time. :)

I think this can be closed for the time being. If I notice it being a
problem again I'll re-open it. Thanks again for all the help.
