Thanks, it's one of these bugs that can be triggered by cowdancer, due
to the way cowdancer overrides file open.  I don't know how 'screen'
configure script is deciding usable fifos, but it might indeed be
using some checks that cowdancer does not currently support. It's
difficult to see the whole picture without the output.
