The problem is either in firebird.msg, or in the code that reads it.
firebird.msg is actually in an Architecture: all package,
firebird2-common.
If you've installed firebird2-common from the archive, can you try
installing the one built by you on sparc?
Likewise, if you've installed firebird2-common from your build, can
you try installing the one from the archive?
Either way checking, the md5sum of firebird.msg can verify that the
one from the archive and the one built on sparc are the same as they
should be.
If they differ, can you send me the one built on sparc?
Mine is:
508f9c30aaf86d69973269e66e692997 /usr/share/firebird2-common/firebird.msg
(from sid, 1.5.3.4870-12, built on i386, used also on amd64)
