Thanks for the infos. I still have no idea what could have happened with your
tables, though. Can you mail me your /etc/mysql/my.cnf and the
files /var/lib/mysql/host.* ?

Maybe you use some very strange config options like accidantly setting the
maximum memory to 0 bytes which makes it impossible for mysql to open any
table at all or you have "skip-myisam" in it...

What I figured out at least is that the "host" table is the very first table
that mysql tries to access at all so it could indeed be a problem that you
would get for any other table, too.
