phpMyAdmin does some smart tricks to correct 'user errors' in the
PmaAbsoluteUri setting, among others in selecting the right scheme. It
might be that your URL is incorrectly modified. However, this depends on
quite some factors which are not easy to diagnose remotely.

Therefore I'd like to ask the following questions:
- Does phpMyAdmin work correctly without having the PmaAbsoluteUri set
  at all?
- Does setting the ForceSSL option work?
- Does setting "SSLOptions +StdEnvVars" in the Apache config help?
- Did anything change in your setup that might have cause this behaviour
  change?
