"BACKPORTING Some effort has been made to ease the effort of backporting the source package to woody. If you pass the build time environment variable DEB_BUILD_WOODY (e.g., DEB_BUILD_WOODY=yes fakeroot debian/rules binary) the appropriate library dependencies and configure options will be passed. ucf handling also works differently, depending on the version of ucf available. Any problems or comments, please file a bug report - I would like to stabilize this for future sarge backports, so I am beginning the work now."
