One of the reasons for that is: There is no /dev/snd/ If alsa-utils detects OSS like stuff it cretaes its devices in /dev. If alsa ist detected, then in /dev/snd/ A workaround could be: # rm /var/lib/alsa/asound.state # /etc/init.d/alsa-utils restart # alsamixer Adjust, unmute and exit <ESC> Test sound. -- Do you smell something burning or ist it me?
