Whow, do you have a full featured machine corresponding to that
config?

Could you please to the following as root:

# rm /var/lib/alsa/asound.state
# /etc/init.d/alsa-utils restart
# alsamixer
Adjust, unmute and exit with <ESC>
Test sound.

If there is OSS stuff mentioned in /var/lib/alsa/asound.state alsa-utils puts
the devices in /dev. /dev/snd/* is only build if alsa-utils detects alsa.
