Why? What are you trying to do with the common desktop task?
That will simply reduce the size of what kde-desktop brings in, which
can among other advantages reduce the installation time from KDE-CD-1.
This appears to save several megabytes of download.
Also, sorry but I completely forgot to explain that the functionality of
foomatic-gui is almost completely provided by kcmshell printers.
