Hello! I just wanted to mention that the bug disussed here still exists on my box using the kernel from http://people.debian.org/~nobse/kernel/linux-2.6/i386/ (in my case linux-image-2.6.18-4-k7_2.6.18-9_i386.deb)
Here the output from dmesg: [...] Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 00 sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi removable disk sda sd 0:0:0:1: Attached scsi removable disk sdb sd 0:0:0:2: Attached scsi removable disk sdc usb-storage: device scan complete sd 0:0:0:3: Attached scsi removable disk sdd ata2: port is slow to respond, please be patient ata2: port failed to respond (30 secs) ata2: softreset failed (device not ready) ata2: softreset failed, retrying in 5 secs ata2: port is slow to respond, please be patient ata2: port failed to respond (30 secs) ata2: COMRESET failed (device not ready) ata2: hardreset failed, retrying in 5 secs ata2: port is slow to respond, please be patient ata2: port failed to respond (30 secs) ata2: COMRESET failed (device not ready) ata2: reset failed, giving up scsi3 : ahci ata3: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300) scsi4 : ahci ata4: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300) Vendor: ATA Model: ST3160812AS Rev: 3.AH Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 05 SCSI device sde: 312581808 512-byte hdwr sectors (160042 MB) sde: Write Protect is off sde: Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 SCSI device sde: drive cache: write back SCSI device sde: 312581808 512-byte hdwr sectors (160042 MB) sde: Write Protect is off sde: Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 SCSI device sde: drive cache: write back sde: sde1 sde2 sd 1:0:0:0: Attached scsi disk sde kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds [...] A further issue which - imho is coupled w/ this one - is that my cd/dvd combo drive does not seem to work: firstly there is no inidication in dmesg that it was fond an secondly it behaves like dead: it does not open if i press the button and it does not blink; it can be opened until these message appear on the screen. Is there another kernel version (prefferably as *.deb) that i could test? Cheers, Sigmund -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
