I installed Debian 3.1 on a Tatung Compstation 10 with no problem. This time there was a problem. Every time I got to install boot loader, I got an error statement telling me the boot loaded wouldn't install. I finally gave up and decided to install anyway so I continued past the boot loader error intending to read error messages. Well, when I rebooted, it JUST WORKED!! Very frustrating thought. GRRRR!!! I moved to Debian from Kubuntu when I got tired of all of the clutter. I took of the training wheels. I'm using fvwm and working my way through the set up. Great job!!! I'm looking forward to the next testing so I can contribute more after I get more experience in Linux. The SPARC port is wonderful! I found some scrap Sun and Tatung machines and gave them life. Maybe you could give a few more details about where to find some of this stuff for newbies.
