Package: acpi-support Version: 0.90-2 Severity: normal
I have a Sony laptop so the toshset package does absolutely nothing for me and I should not have to install it.i So acpi-support should Recommend toshset rather than Depend on it. This way a default installation would install the package, but users who have limited diskspace (e.g. my 6GB) would be able to remove irrelevant dependencies without leaving the acpi-support package in a broken state. The same approach should be applied to readeontool too (I have a Neomagic card), and possibly vbetool too. I checked the 0.90-4 release and it has the same set of dependencies. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.19acpi Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages acpi-support depends on: ii acpid 1.0.4-5 Utilities for using ACPI power man ii dmidecode 2.8-4 Dump Desktop Management Interface ii finger 0.17-10 user information lookup program ii hdparm 6.9-1 tune hard disk parameters for high ii laptop-detect 0.12.1 attempt to detect a laptop ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-11 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii lsb-base 3.1-23 Linux Standard Base 3.1 init scrip ii powermgmt-base 1.29 Common utils and configs for power ii radeontool 1.5-5 utility to control ATI Radeon back ii toshset 1.72-2 Access much of the Toshiba laptop ii vbetool 0.7-1.1 run real-mode video BIOS code to a ii xbase-clients 1:7.1.ds1-2 miscellaneous X clients Versions of packages acpi-support recommends: ii laptop-mode-tools 1.32-1 Scripts to spin down hard drive an -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
