Package: metar
Version: 20050103.1-2
Severity: wishlist

The first METAR I got with this program was this:

EFHK 282020Z VRB02KT CAVOK M06/M09 Q1026 0409//75 5409//80 1519//69 NOSIG

The decoded output was this:

Station : EFHK
Day : 28
Time : 2020 UTC
Wind direction: 0
Wind stength : 0
Wind gust : 0
Visibility : 0
Temperature : -6 C
Dewpoint : -9 C
Pressure : 1026 hPa
Clouds :
Phenomena :

It seems the program didn't understand wind or visibility
information. VRB02KT means that wind direction is variable at 2
knots.

CAVOK means "ceiling and visibility OK", in other words visibility
is 10 kilometers or more and no clouds are present under 5000 feet.

There's a good document for decoding METAR and TAF messages at
http://users.tkk.fi/~stoivane/metar/.
