Hi,

I have removed digikam + associated packages from the machine. Hereafter I
reinstalled
digikam again.

Now I observe that Digikam recognises the Canon 350D when I ask it to
auto-install it.
So that is one step further in the process. Still I cannot download photo's
from it, as
this yields an error message stating the camera is not there.

In parallel I installed Etch on a new machine, fresh install, and here the
camera
is working smoothly.

So I acknowledge the problem is related to a wrongly installed packages. How to
find
out which one? and still I confirm the problem has occured just from performing
apt-get install/remove so somewhere in the path a dependency must be wrong.

Regards,
