To start with, you claim this is a libcurl error so I would think that you should produce at least some kind of evidence or at least indications or hints that libcurl is to blame.

This could possibly be done by someone adding debug options for libcurl in curlftpfs, or even better: create a separate and simpler stand-alone application that can repeat the problem so that we in the (lib)curl project can use that to wok on this problem.

Of course, testing curlftpfs with the most recent libcurl version (released and in CVS) to see if the prolem remains, would make a good first step.
