Yes it certainly would, if you are in contact with upstream I'd
advocate sending them this patch.
merge the #ifdef to something more space-efficient, but this is possibly even
less maintainable. The /proc/cpuinfo I recall to also depend on the version
of the kernel, sadly, so maybe in a later version we should try not
to "count" any spaces to become more flexible/stable.
We can only hope that the proc interface won't change too often... :)
