when i use the -swap option with nbd-client, it hangs and fails to work.
when i use nbd-client without the -swap option, it *seems* to work
fine... but...
from the manpage:
-swap Specifies that this NBD device will be used as swapspace. If you
intend to do that, please use this option to prevent deadlocks.
You???ll need a special kernel patch, available at NBD???s homepage:

so, going to that homepage, selecting the network block device page,
then tells me that page is hopelessly out of date, and to go to
nbd.sf.net .... which then says:
It was originaly thought that it is impossible to swap over TCP. This
turned out not to be true, though the patch required to make it safe has
not been forward-ported to any reasonably recent kernel.
what are the dangers of using nbd as swap without the mentioned swap
patch, or have the swap patches actually been integrated into the linux
kernel now(as there isn't much mention of which versions or timeframes
regarding the swap patch)?
