The typo has already been fixed upstream - a new release is pending a
few changes within emdebian-tools and dpkg-cross.

Regarding the use of fakeroot, there is a misplaced comment but
fakeroot is used elsewhere in the script. This may be removed in future
versions by migrating the status file(s) and lock files to the
~/.dpkg-cross directory. This will make the error handling cleaner too.

Actually, it doesn't - the noise from dpkg is spurious in this case and
can be ignored (hence the redirect). Running 'apt-cross -u' under sudo
or otherwise as root causes more trouble than it is worth - don't do it.
