Depends on what we want. Indian language printing is not important, of course, if the Indian subcontinent does not belong to the Debian target group. Personally, I think fixing this (and fixing it quickly) should take priority over considerations of a Debian release cycle. I wasn't aware that Sid had "releases" anyway.
