How hard is it to do a GPT install with the standard installer? I haven't tried, but I guess you could use the CD (with 'rescue' command) for your first boot, and then install GRUB 2 from there. Did you find any other problems? If the procedure is so awkward that the average admin of a 2 TiB server can't figure it out, then maybe we should reconsider.. > >If GRUB 2 has a bug, why don't you try to fix that instead? > > Because I haven't got the knowledge of C, GPT or bootloaders in > general to be of any help there in a finite amount of time (which is > also not available in abundancy, unfortunately). Note that by "trying to fix it" I don't necessarily mean doing it all yourself :-). Just filing a bug report is something that helps; I think you should have done that before discarding GRUB 2 and trying to push GPT into GRUB Legacy. I'm sorry that upstream was unresponsive though. But we're all pretty busy here, you know.. ;) > I tried the debian package, yes. > > >It could also be because of the numbering scheme transition. We can keep it open if you like (we have lots of wontfix bugs currently anyway ;). If GRUB 2 doesn't work, then please report a bug; and if it turns out it isn't something we can fix, then it would be more resonable to discuss about GPT in GRUB Legacy. -- Robert Millan My spam trap is [EMAIL PROTECTED] Note: this address is only intended for spam harvesters.
