Package: firebird2.0-common
Version: 2.0.0.12748.ds1-2

The package install a symlink to /etc/firebird/2.0/fbintl.conf as:

/usr/lib/firebird/2.0/fbintl/fbintl.conf

The correct path should be:

/usr/lib/firebird/2.0/intl/fbintl.conf

("intl" instead of "fbintl")

As a consequence, Firebird seems to not recognize the client's desired
character set, returning the message "CHARACTER SET WIN1252 is not
defined", both when creating a database (although it actually gets
created) and when connecting to it. Moving the symlink to the above
path, i.e. in the "intl" directory, along with the fbintl module,
seems to correct the issue. I'm neither a Linux nor a Firebird expert,
but from the information I could gather even the embedded flavor of
Firebird requires an "intl" directory containing both fbintl and
fbintl.conf, so I tried to move the symlink there and it worked fine.

I'm using Debian etch, with just standard packages installed, plus mc
(Midnight Commander -- at least until I grok bash and vi decently, it
saves my day) and, of course, firebird2.0-super with its dependencies.
It's on a VMWare virtual machine for now, so if necessary I can zip
the whole thing and upload it anywhere requested.
