Package: installation-reports First time I've really installed from CD as it does not include the 2.6.8 kernel and I was under the impression that the support in 2.4.27 for my IDE hardware would break the installation. It turns out it doesn't (maybe because the CMD64x driver is compiled into the kernel).

I'm fairly sure I've seen it displayed on an earlier occasion. This may be related to #261824/267428 and #269109. The first time I booted the CD (just pressed <enter>), the boot failed with "No init found". The second boot I used: linux ramdisx_size=20000 debconf/priority=medium debian-installer/framebuffer=true and this went fine. However, after the installation I was unable reproduce the failure of the first boot. The debian-installer/framebuffer=true is needed to tell the installer to use the framebuffer and properly display non-ascii characters (#257285). No problem at all during the rest of the installation. (Except for the exim4 pause happening during power off after the installation, but that's described in another thread.) Cheers, FJP
