Package: openssh-server Version: 1:4.3p2-8 Severity: normal Hi,
Let's consider the following situation: A has LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 in /etc/default/locale, and B has LANG=fr_FR.ISO-8859-15 in /etc/default/locale. Both have SendEnv/AcceptEnv LANG LC_*. The result is: A$ locale charmap UTF-8 A$ ssh B B$ locale charmap ISO-8859-15 Which of course brings a lot of buggy printings. So it looks like /etc/default/locale takes precedence over SendEnv/AcceptEnv LANG with unfortunate effects. Shouldn't that be the contrary? (so that /etc/default/locale really be a _default_).
