As of now, for no reason I can see, the dropouts have stopped. I have neither changed my WPA and ifupdown configuration nor upgraded directly related packages; but still, the problem is gone. I assume this is due to some package update that seems unrelated, but somehow isn't, like avahi-autoipd or dhclient3. Who knows?
With the maintainers blessing, I'm gonna give it another week or two and if the problem stays gone, I'm gonna close this bug.
