Hi Bruce, Thanks for the inquiry. I modified XF86Config-4 by using some help I got from Linux-on-laptops.com. I saved a copy of the original file generated by the installer, if you'd like to see it. The problem actually occurred with a Sarge installation. I'm running Sarge exclusively now and have been for about six months with no problems. I never been able to get either of two HP printers to print anything other than simple text, however. Paul
