Package: aide Version: 0.13.1-2 Severity: normal Several lines of aide config I use myself to get Aide to better behave with a standard Debian installation:
Default syslog installation includes /var/log/mail.err and /var/log/mail.warn, both are rotated. So I added them to 31_aide_syslog. Nullmailer uses /var/spool/nullmailer for storing messages in the queue and the like. Since this info changes often, I use: !/var/spool/nullmailer It would be smart, however, to check user, group and other modes on the directory, I guess. Since cron-apt downloads new indexes each night and I don't need a confirmation of that each day, I use: !/var/cache/apt/lists Also, my cron-apt config tells the program to download updated packages. Since it already mails me about that, I disable checking of that directory too, since it only duplicates a message cron-apt already sends me (and I'd like to keep warnings to an absolute minimum, to be sure I don't tire of them), I use: !/var/cache/apt/archives It would probably be better to at least check the settings of the directory (user, etc.) instead of completely ignoring it. Hope this helps. I'll mail other changes when I find them. -- Kind regards, Tim Stoop -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-2-xen-amd64 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages aide depends on: ii debconf [debconf 1.5.11 Debian configuration management sy ii liblockfile1 1.06.1 NFS-safe locking library, includes ii mailx 1:8.1.2-0.20050715cvs-1 A simple mail user agent ii ucf 2.0017 Update Configuration File: preserv Versions of packages aide recommends: ii cron 3.0pl1-99 management of regular background p -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
