Package: sylpheed-claws-gtk2
Version: 1.9.6cvs1-1
Severity: normal

Maximize the Subect Panel so it takes up most of the screen, with a few
hundred messages to scroll through. Hold the "down arrow" key and the
blue highlight moves down through the subjects. Meanwhile the whole
panel flickers, not just the blue highlights, but the white text too.
And the CPU goes to 100%.

If it matters, I'm running this on a Pentium III 1ghz, with 512Megs,
with an nvidia video card that uses Debian's 'nvidia-kernel-2.6.9-1-686'
X driver. My system's video & CPU speed is probably not to blame.

The same keyboard scrolling works fine in plain old 'sylpheed'; smooth,
no big CPU usage. I've also tried 'sylpheed-gtk' in which the flicker
is only in the blue hightlight line, (not the white text), while the CPU
goes up to about 30%.

It seems like SCG2's panel rendering routine must be buggy, or calling a
buggy library, or both; I'm not sure. The fact that the white space
flickers suggests that it's redrawing the whole panel every time the
up/down arrows are pressed.

HTH...
