these two fix the problem S1) If I log in and set the lang in GDM not to italian, it works S2) If I # mv /usr/share/iceape/chrome/calendar-it-IT.jar /usr/share/iceape/chrome/calendar-it-IT.jar.crasha then it works regardless of locale So it seems that you pinpointed the problem thanks ------- but here comes the Questions-That-Should-Not-Be-Asked ?!) in my other PC (an amd64) I have the same language settings LANG=it_IT.UTF-8 .... why on earth does it work there ?!?! !?) on the host where it does not work, if I unset LANG and GDM_LANG in a terminal , and I $ iceape -calendar it fails . To start it, I really have to logout, change the language setting in GDM and relogin. Why ?!?
