Hello, My dvd writer now does not give the input/output error anymore. The problem was with the kernel's ata_piix driver(and related stuff I guess :)). It's only from 2.6.19 that my writer was correctly detected, but I get the Input/Output problems then. I now tried 2.6.20-rc4 and now it works like it should.
