I am missing my Gnome menus and I am learning to use command
xdg-desktop-menu --novendor install /usr/share/applications/*.desktop so
I found out following related to alacarte:
xdg-desktop-menu: filename 'alacarte.desktop' does not have a proper
vendor prefix
A vendor prefix consists of alpha characters ([a-zA-Z]) and is
terminated
with a dash ("-"). An example filename is 'example-alacarte.desktop'
Use --novendor to override or 'xdg-desktop-menu --manual' for additional
info.
Maybe the vendor prefix shall be added.
