It seems pretty strange that konqueror would take a long time to load under the circumstances you describe. Do any other KDE applications ever take a really long time to load, or just konqueror? Is the system under heavy load when konqueror is taking a long time to load? Do you have a homepage set in konqueror? How often / what percentage of the time does it take minutes to load?
