Hi Rafał and Klaus Maria, thanks for the info - I have an idea now where the crash is located. However I still do not fully understand what is needed to cause the crash.

If my theory is right, ./dvdisaster --query-size=drive -v -s will reveal that the drive is reporting silly stuff during the query.
