I hit the same problem as described by Daniel (can't play a cd under sound-juicer and totem).
I can play the same CD with vlc. However, "gst-launch-0.10 cdparanoiasrc ! autoaudiosink" fail when "gst-launch-0.10 cdiocddasrc ! autoaudiosink" doesn't. I also tried installing cdparanoia, and launching "cdparanoia 1" works.
