Package: update-notifier Severity: normal If the update-notifier package is installed, it seems impossible to prevent it from being started as part of a GNOME session. It got installed as part of the desktop (gnome-desktop?) task, and thereby inserted into my GNOME login session. Removing it from the session with the GNOME session management configuration tool didn't help: it was added back when I logged in again.
I didn't get it removed from my session until I purged the package from my system. For machines with multiple users, this might be sub-optimal: some users might want it, others should not have it. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-3-686 Locale: LANG=fi_FI.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fi_FI.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
