sounds like a nice idea. the mailman-pipermail solves this by adding
meta-headers to the INdex-pages like:
<HEAD>
<title>The Linux Archives</title>
<META NAME="robots" CONTENT="noindex,follow">
<META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=us-ascii">
</HEAD>
which at least seem to work with htdig and google.
