On systems with a separate /usr filesystem, several boot scripts (on my system,
at least: alsa, console-screen.kbd.sh, glibc.sh, keymap.sh, ntp, wpa-ifupdown),
break because 'cut' gets installed in /usr/bin instead of /bin.
