Package: deskbar-applet Version: 2.14.2-4.2 Severity: important With firefox2, sherlock-style .src searchplugins have been deprecated in firefox and replaced by the opensearch format. Therefore, web search is broken, if firefox/iceweasel is the default browser.
There is a patch against deskbar 2.16 available at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348209 (direct link http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=78533&action=view ) This patch works (except for that favicons for the search engines didn't display, when I tested the patch on Ubuntu edgy). See also https://bugs.launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/deskbar-applet/+bug/63372 I wonder if that patch could be backported to deskbar 2.14, given that firefox/iceweasel 2.x has long replaced the 1.5 series in Debian. Else, deskbar will essentially remain broken during the lifetime of etch for all those who use firefox/iceweasel as their default browser.
