Hi,
I want to install etch from daily built netinstall CD, platform x86_64. My
network card is D-Link DE530 (Tulip family), my computer contains AMD Athlon64
X2. Installer make right decission to select module de2104x. I have to use BNC
connector to local network. Module is loaded with folowing messages:

kernel: eth3: set link 10baseT auto
kernel: eth3: mode 0x7ffc0040, sia 0x12c4, 0xffffef01, 0xffffffff, 0xffff0008
kernel: eth3: set mode 0x7ffc0040, set sia 0xef01, 0xffff, 0x8
netcfg: WARNING: couldn't determine MII ioctl to use for eth3
netcfg: INFO: eth3 is not a wireless interface. Continuing.
kernel: eth3: disabling interface

... and after filling of network parameters screen it continues:

kernel: eth3: enabling interface
kernel: eth3: h/w init failure, err -16

Network is unreachable so I cannot continue in installation.

This computer contains an installation of sarge. I use this card in sarge. I
have to use experimental module de2104x, because computer hangs with module
de4x5. It seems that this module doesn't like more CPUs.

When I replace this card during etch installation and then return it back, I
_can_ use this card in etch too. See messages during boot etch from disk:

eth0: set link 10baseT auto
eth0: mode 0x7ffc0040, sia 0x12c4, 0xffffef01, 0xffffffff, 0xffff0008
eth0: set mode 0x7ffc0040, set sia 0xef01, 0xffff, 0x8

... <time delay>

eth0: set link BNC
eth0: mode 0x7ffc0000, sia 0x10c4, 0xffffef09, 0xfffff7fd, 0xffff0006
eth0: set mode 0x7ffc0000, set sia 0xef09, 0xf7fd, 0x6
eth0: link up, media BNC

It seems, that d-i environment does not allow BNC detection. No module
parameter exist to explain module that BNC is used.
