VLC plays fine localy but fail to play on a "thin client" connected by XDMCP.
The playback is perfect localy and the VLC window appear on the client without
problems. VLC crashes as soon as one hit the play button with error message:

The client and the server are running KDE on Etch. Except for VLC the XDMCP
session
is working fine. I might as well be explicit with what I mean by XDMCP
session. On
the server KDM is the login manager with
[Xdmcp]
Enable=true
Willing=/etc/kde3/kdm/Xwilling
in /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc. KDM is also the login manager on the client but with
plain
config. The at the KDM login screen, on the client, I pick "remote login"
from the
pull down menu then I type the IP addr of the server.
