Package: nis
Version: 3.17-2
Severity: important

Hi!

Yesterday we have received here a nice new computer (with 2 dual core
Xeon), installed Debian Etch for amd64 (everything went fine), etc. But
trying to configure NIS (client) on it was disappointing.
We have verified every configuration, checked with other computers
(i386), tried reinstalling nis, but we were not able to make it see the
NIS server.

Then I installed nis 3.13-2, from Sarge, and it's working!
Version 3.17-2 doesn't work here...

Strange, hmm?

Sincerelly, I don't know how to debug why 3.17-2 isn't working. It just
doesn't see the NIS server. Really strange...

Please, what should I do/send to help debugging this issue?

Best regards,
Nelson
