I just hit this bug while trying to install sid in a chroot:

tajwan:/var/sid-386-chroot# chroot /var/sid-386-chroot dpkg --force-depends --install var/cache/apt/archives/base-files_4_i386.deb var/cache/apt/archives/base-passwd_3.5.11_i386.deb
(Reading database ... 84 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace base-files 4 (using .../archives/base-files_4_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement base-files ...
Preparing to replace base-passwd 3.5.11 (using .../base-passwd_3.5.11_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement base-passwd ...
dpkg: base-passwd: dependency problems, but configuring anyway as you request:
 base-passwd depends on libc6 (>= 2.3.5-1); however:
  Package libc6 is not installed.
Setting up base-passwd (3.5.11) ...

dpkg: base-files: dependency problems, but configuring anyway as you request:
 base-files depends on awk; however:
  Package awk is not installed.
Setting up base-files (4) ...
cp: relocation error: /lib/libacl.so.1: symbol getxattr, version ATTR_1.0 not defined in file libattr.so.1 with link time reference
dpkg: error processing base-files (--install):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 127
Errors were encountered while processing:
 base-files

How am I going to install my chroot then? I know I should downgrade libattr1, but in this half-installed chroot I dont even have apt-get yet..
