I just hit this bug while trying to install sid in a chroot:
tajwan:/var/sid-386-chroot# chroot /var/sid-386-chroot dpkg
--force-depends --install var/cache/apt/archives/base-files_4_i386.deb
var/cache/apt/archives/base-passwd_3.5.11_i386.deb
(Reading database ... 84 files and directories currently installed.)

request:

request:

dpkg: error processing base-files (--install):

How am I going to install my chroot then? I know I should downgrade
libattr1, but in this half-installed chroot I dont even have apt-get yet..
