It was just the simplest answer to your question. Can you please give me some
example of non-offensive-smelling answer to this question?

test application, compare it's features to other music players...

here is lspci output:
Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 (rev 08)
And it uses normal Alsa modules from 2.6.18 kernel.

in xine, xmms, BMP, audacious, mplayer alsa device is named "default", but I
can change it to "hw:0,0" and they can still play music. There is also hw:0,2
and hw:0,3 - but there is no sound when playing with those devices.
