Ok, sorry for that one, I should have done some more research. PEM
format keys/certificates are base64 encoded. This is the default format
and the most common I think. Certainly there might be a bug in the
implementation and yours was the first certificate to find it. However
the problem probably isn't that widespread. Not a lot of comfort for you
though I realise.
